Steven Treeby

Environmental Monitor and H&S Officer

Steven Treeby is a geographer with experience in environmental monitoring, coastal and ocean management, Environmental Impact Assessment, traffic data collection and agriculture.

He joined En-Sure in 2011, and has since played a key role in the environmental monitoring services offered by the company. He was previously employed by the Paying Agency of the Ministry of Resources and Rural Affairs, where he gained substantial experience in aspects related to agriculture and the environment, including verification and auditing of data.

Steven is responsible for advising management teams and site operatives on best practice methods in order to mitigate the environmental impact of construction projects. His role includes conducting regular site inspections and subsequently compiling operational monitoring and environmental site management reports. He is also involved in noise and vibration monitoring, traffic count surveys, hotel eco-certification audits and land use surveys.

Steven has been involved in a wide range of projects since joining En-Sure. He has served as Assistant / Lead Environmental Site Manager or formed part of the operational monitoring team for several major projects, such as the City Gate project, the reconstruction of TEN-T roads, the rehabilitation of the former Maghtab landfill, the Life Sciences Park in San Gwann, the underground tunnel and interconnector station in Maghtab, dredging projects in Cirkewwa and Marsaxlokk, the coastal projects at the Marsaxlokk breakwater and Deep Water Quay, and tourism / residential / mixed developments at Mellieha, St Andrew’s and St Julians.

In addition, Steven was recently actively involved in a wide-ranging bathing water profile project covering numerous sites around Malta, Gozo and Comino.

Steven graduated from the University of Malta with a BA (Hons) degree in Geography. As part of his dissertation, he assessed traffic flows to and from Valletta in conjunction with the introduction of the Controlled Vehicular Access (CVA) system.

Since joining En-Sure, Steven has undergone training in environmental / occupational noise and vibration measurement, acquired associate membership of the Institute of Environment Management and Assessment (IEMA) and completed a Diploma in Social Studies (Occupational Health and Safety) at the University of Malta. Steven has also acquired competence in first aid and fire fighting.

Steven is now actively involved in setting up En-Sure’s health and safety programme, ensuring that the company complies with all occupational health and safety legislation. He also aims to develop his career in the field of occupational health and safety, in conjunction with his current environmental monitoring role.

Steven is fluent in Maltese, English and Italian. He loves travelling and is a football fanatic.
