May 2014 – The European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register

The European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register, or E-PRTR as it is commonly called, is a European database with information on pollutant releases and waste transfers from a range of industrial facilities. These include shipyards, fish farms, power plants and waste management sites.

Companies meeting certain criteria are required to submit an annual pollutant and waste inventory to MEPA, and are responsible for ensuring that the data meets high standards of quality. MEPA, in turn, reviews this information and then submits it to the European Commission

The information is then made public on the European Commission’s website. Data for the year 2012 has recently been published.
