En-Sure staff receive training on Stream Restoration

En-Sure’s staff recently attended a two-day Stream Restoration and Bioengineering training course led by Dr Eman Calleja, Dr Gianluigi Pirrera and Dr Prof. Rosemarie Stangl in collaboration with the European Federation of Soil and Water Bioengineering (EFIB).  The objective of this training course was to teach participants about bioengineering techniques used to restore the structure and functions of the riparian habitats found along Wied il-Fiddien (Chadwick Lakes).

En-Sure Consultant Achieves Soil and Groundwater Risk Assessment Certification

Rachel Decelis, Senior Environmental Consultant at En-Sure, recently completed a training course on soil and groundwater risk assessment.

The course was organised by CL:AIRE (Contaminated Land: Applications in Real Environments), an independent UK organisation specialised on sustainable land reuse.  The topics covered included the processes involved in carrying out a risk assessment, including preparing a conceptual site model, Tier 1 and Tier 2 assessments, risk evaluation, risk management strategies, and verification of risk reduction. ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Course

During the last week of January Mr Titian Schembri, a Lead Environmental Monitor and Project Manager working with En-Sure Ltd, successfully completed a training course to become a ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor.

The aim of this course was to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third-party audits of environment management systems against the ISO 14001:2015 standard, in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 (as applicable). Read more..

February 2012 – Noise & Vibration Monitoring Training

Early this year En-Sure monitoring team attended an intensive week-long course in noise & vibration monitoring and assessment, especially in relation to construction site projects. The course programme was prepared by Moloney & Associates Ltd and included a basic knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

• Basic concepts, measurement and instrumentation;
• Human hearing and environmental noise assessment;
• Noise assessment standards;
• Noise risk assessment;
• Hearing loss and hearing protection;
• Legal aspects of workplace noise; and
• Environmental and workplace vibration.

The programme was designed to include understanding the assessment procedures and the analysis that goes with it, rather than being restricted to noise and vibration measurement procedures.

September 2011 – MSc in Project Management

An En-Sure employee, Titian Schembri, was enrolled as an online student with the University of Liverpool in September 2011. Mr Schembri will be reading an MSc in Project Management.

The MSc in Project Management offered by the University of Liverpool provides the skills necessary to become an executive Project Manager, to lead and deliver advanced and effective project management, along with a valuable academic qualification.

The course provides modern advanced tools for managing risk, allocating appropriate levels of resources, developing business opportunities and financing options, approaching health & safety implications, considering national security issues, establishing communications protocols, integrating environmental supply chain logistics, and other contractual obligations into project management plans. Project management implications associated with the technical, organisational, financial, and governmental aspects of large projects and the changing external context is also explored in this programme.

The MSc course was partly funded by the Training Aid Framework managed by the Employment & Training Corporation. The Framework is an integral part of the European Social Fund available to Malta for the period 2007-2013.

En-Sure Ltd provided the rest of the funds required for the course.
