Environmental Monitoring for Construction of the Grand Hotel Verdala, Rabat

Demolition of Grand Hotel VerdalaEn-Sure has been awarded an operational monitoring contract for the demolition, excavation and re-construction of the Grand Hotel Verdala, Rabat. The proposal is permitted by planning permits PA/06044/17 & PA/06714/20.

The development is spread over six floors above highest street level and two levels below. The proposed uses include, Class 1 residential units, Class 4B ancillary retail use, Class 3B hotel with ancillary facilities and garage making provision for 176 cars. Read more..

External Lighting Work Plan for a leisure and tourism facility

En-Sure was recently engaged to prepare an External Lighting Work Plan that aimed to identify mitigating measures to reduce external lighting effects on avifauna.  

The Work Plan was requested by the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) since the facility’s location directly overlooks three Special Protection Areas (SPA) where colonies of birds such as shearwaters and storm petrels are known to breed. Breeding habitat is continually being lost on the Maltese Islands through the encroachment of artificial light; in addition, fledglings are attracted to our village’s bright lights and become disorientated, which often leads to strandings on land. Environmental Monitoring for Construction of Shoreline Residences at SmartCity

En-Sure has been awarded an operational monitoring contract for the construction of the Shoreline Residences, at SmartCity in Kalkara.

The proposal, permitted by planning permit PA/01029/18, includes excavation of the site to sea level, and construction of mixed use development consisting of an underground car park, a commercial complex, an elevated residents’ plaza with communal pool and landscaping, and an overlying residential complex on eleven floors.

Environmental Monitoring for Construction of University Residence

En-Sure has been awarded an operational monitoring contract for the construction of a University Residence and Community Complex.

The proposal, permitted by planning permits PA/07926/16 and PA 00456/17, includes the demolition of existing buildings, dismantling and reconstruction of a vernacular building, excavation works, as well as construction of a university residence (with 690 bedroom units), ancillary commercial space, student community amenities, a language school, lecture space, an office building and an underground car park (with 456 car spaces).

En-Sure archaeologists monitoring the extension and refurbishment of St John’s Co-Cathedral Museum

En-Sure has been entrusted with the archaeological monitoring required by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage for the extension and refurbishment of St John’s Co-Cathedral Museum. En-Sure is monitoring the excavation works for the creation of a new tapestry hall on top of the ex-World War II buildings adjacent to Merchant Street. This new extension will house the renowned Flemish Tapestries and other Maltese treasures.

Tritons Fountain Inaugurated – En-Sure responsible for Archaeological Monitoring

The Tritons Fountain was recently inaugurated after a lengthy restoration process in preparation for Valletta 2018. This project forms part of the embellishment and pedestrianisation of the Triton Fountain Square, and is part of the larger regeneration of the entrance to Valletta, itself a site of significant historic importance and a World Heritage City.

En-Sure responsible for the health and safety aspects of the decommissioning and dismantling of the Delimara Power Station

En-Sure was engaged by General Smontaggi, the main contractor responsible for the decommissioning and dismantling works at the Delimara Power Station, to oversee the health and safety of the workers employed during this decommissioning Project.

The dismantling work, which started in September 2017, consists of the dismantling of the 150 metre chimney, two boilers, two turbines, several HFO pipelines and auxiliary installations. The dismantling process started with the removal of the lowermost part of the two steel pipes that connected the chimney to the boilers. The remaining metal pipes, ladders and platforms within the chimney’s structure will be lowered to ground level using strand jacks. These will be subsequently dismantled and broken into smaller pieces before being carted away off-site. Read more..
